We have four unique upstairs guest rooms each privately elegant for the traveler that is in search of relaxed comfort, all with private baths with walk-in showers with the exception of the Lincoln Room that has a shower in the slipper tub.
Each room is furnished with alarm clocks, 4 dock charging for devices and playing of music from phone or iPod, wireless internet, hair dryers, an iron and ironing board and ceiling fans with the exception of the Grant room. Each room is furnished with 2 spa style robes for our guests. Two of the rooms have Queen Size beds and two have King size beds.
Upon request, we will provide wine glasses for guest supplied wine.
Lincoln Bedroom; King
Enjoy this east facing bedroom decorated in blues, reds, stars and stripes and named the Lincoln Room in honor of the night that Abraham Lincoln spent in this home. There is a lovely private bath where one can find a slipper soaking tub to start your evening of relaxation. Afterward enjoy the comfort of the provided spa robe and settle down with a good book in the reading chair. The luxury of a King size bed offers plenty of room for a peaceful night’s rest. One of the east facing windows looks out into the lovely Magnolia tree that is glorious in the spring.
Graces’ Bedroom; Queen
Named for the proprietors Grandmother, who was born in Winterset Iowa, this beautiful bedroom is decorated in roses and lace. The Queen bed faces the unique and most striking architectural feature of the home; a 9 foot arched door flanked by arched windows that lead to a private open porch where the arches are repeated on the porch facade. Read a book or sip a glass of wine while enjoying the antique wicker rockers with the afternoon sun. A private bath is included with this room.
The Grant Room; King
Ulysses S. Grant, born Hiram Ulysses Grant, known for his talent with horses is reflected by the artwork in this bedroom. Hudson and Grant spent a great deal of time together as children as they were first cousins. The headboard of the King size bed is against a bold colored wall which shares two west facing windows allowing the guest to greet the day facing the two east windows.
The Hudson Room; Queen
This tranquil sage green room catches the afternoon sun as it filters through the lace curtains in the south and west facing window. Sit and relax in the favorite rocker or send a postcard to family and friends using the antique writing desk. From this room one can especially enjoy spring when the white dogwood will fill the window scape as she dons her white cape. In the fall the tree is filled with red berries and birds. The unique sink cabinet was custom made for its location in the bedroom while the other bathroom facilities are located in a private bath area. Lie back in the Queen bed and enjoy the many unusual pieces displayed on the shelves and contemplate days gone by.
